My Version of Shel Silverstein's "Sick"

“I cannot go for a run today,”said  Jana Elaine McKee.
"I have been patient. I have been good,
I rested, I waited, I ate less food.
I even did the exercises that I should.
My right knee is as big as a balloon,
I keep saying I will swim soon.
I have only spun even though it ain't too fun.
My leg is stiff, I am feeling a bit blue –
If you were me, you might too...
I ice and rest and wait and hope,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke –
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My hip pains each time it rains.
My butt is tight, my psoas too,
I have no idea just what to do.
My hamstring is stiff, my left side is weak,
I haven’t run in over a week!
All I want is to be running about.
My toenails keep falling out.
My knee won't bend, my spine probably ain't straight,
My heart rate hasn’t gotten even to one-o-eight.
My quad is sore. Maybe it tore?
If only I had a stronger core.
I have an ingrown toenail, and my heart is –
what? What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is ... Saturday?

Oh hell with it.  I am staying in bed.”
