One of my students in my class this year, who will remain nameless, touches my heart unlike any other I have had ever. I can't say why or it would reveal too much of her. All I can say is I totally get her.
She is independent. She appears so strong, yet she is so fragile. Her life appears so simple while her story is much more complex and she is so aware of that. In her attempt to appear OK she has this overwhelming need to be cared for yet doesn't know how to ask for it.
She so wants to be deeply to be included. While she isn't overtly excluded, she isn't given the social cues that she really truly is included. I see it. I get that. She is different. She is beautiful. She is deep for her 8 almost 9 years on this planet.
Caution: What may appear strong and independent is actually needy and at times confused.
Please World, handle her with care. She is worth it.
