It is a good thing I run. I am, however, trying to not spend as much money on my running to counter act the money we are spending in other areas that I won't bore you with. Other than our higher insurance costs for less, it is all good. I am just forced to make choices.
I REALLY wanted to run the Santa Barbara Half Marathon as a fun training run for the CIM Marathon I am running in a month up in Sacramento. But, I also really needed a new pair of running shoes. I chose the shoes.
This morning I donned my new Wave Rider 16 shoes and headed out to the Page Youth Center with my family to help set up the bag check area for the SBIM Half in the dark of morning. From there, I trotted out to one of my favorite 4 mile loops to run around and around at my marathon training tempo.
At about mile 2 of my tempo, the planes flew overhead signaling the start of the marathon. I was a little sad to not be participating in either of the events or able to do my tempo on Sunday so I could volunteer... But, well I had to do what I had to do.
I love my new shoes. They gave a sweet ride for my 21 mile endeavor today. I did miss having running company though. It is all about choices I guess. There is always next year.
