Nailed It!

The tempo today was a 7 mile threshold pace on the first loop of the Santa Barbara Marathon course.   It isn't a bad loop, but it is a bit challenging with hills that don't seem like hills but are.  The camber of the road in spots can be a drag, but all in all it is a good loop.  Some how I found myself in the wrong pace group for the 7.45 pace I planned to keep.  So, for most of the 7 miles I was solo in a sea of others going faster or slower than me.  I did keep the pace though.  All 7 miles were under if not right at my 7.45 pace goal.  Miles 3 and 4 crept down to 7.29 and 7.33.  This usually happens when the faster pace groups blow by me and I get sucked in for a bit until I get myself under control again.  Anyway, to make a long story short, I nailed the workout today all by my lonely little self.  I didn't go too fast and I didn't bonk out. I give myself an A+ for effort and control! Yeah, Me!

With all that said, I really do miss having a running buddy who goes just my pace.  Are there any 7.45 marathon pacers out there who want to run a tempo run with me next Saturday?  I've got the pace down and promise to hold as close as I can to it.  :)
