Last night I went to bed glad to not be running solo in the morning and optimistic about the workout Maggie had been given for the day... 22 miles with only 4 of them at an "easy" pace. The rest of the miles were to be done at a declining pace that were to start at an 8:00-8:10 pace and end at a 7:20 or so. I rested well with a can do attitude. However, when I woke before dawn and sat sipping my coffee, a quiver of self doubt and "Oh shit!" took its place. "What have I said yes to?"... clouded my thoughts before turning into a nervous energy as I slapped on the sunscreen and donned my running gear in the dark of morning. Thank goodness for a well proven routine to get me out the door and on the road. On the drive out to DPHS the negative thoughts began to slip away. I decided that I had a mission to accomplish. I would give it my best and nothing less. By the time I pulled into the parking lot, the nerves were gone. Determination had taken the front seat. Tenacity was my word for the next few hours or so.

Some of the miles in the last 6 set were not as fast as hoped, but the effort was there as we chugged up Hollister. At the top, Stewart stood near the overpass on Winchester with COLD water. It was an unexpected gift and so perfectly
perfect. (I am sure his act of kindness was at least partly responsible for our last mile being
our fastest.)
I can't believe WE did that! All of it! We never gave up. :) Thank you Maggie. You are an incredible runner.
Mission accomplished!
